EQUINE
EVACUATION
What We Have Learned
On August 9, 2008, the entire evacuation unit, which was organized over
10 years ago, will meet at the Santa Cruz County Horsemen's Association
Showgrounds for updated training on what we have learned from our
recent experiences. In addition, those who plan to tow horse
trailers will be asked to
demonstrate skills on trailer maneuvering. Helpful, PATIENT and
experienced drivers will be on hand to provide training for those
desiring instructions.August 9, 2008 Jerry Dowdy, the expert trailer repair guy and a charter member of our team, will also be available to inspect trailers and give free maintenance suggestions. You can pick up his list of yearly "ToDo" tips for keeping your trailer in good health. Training help for loading horses into different types of trailers is also available. Useful demonstrations and tips on what NOT to do will be shared. If you're not comfortable with trailer handling, don't sweat it! Your help is still needed! Drivers appreciate someone who can ride along to assist in evacuations. We also need recorders, feeders, muckers and all-around help to keep the animals happy at the shelter. Snacks and Lunch will be available for purchase. (No dinner.) All proceeds will go to the Equine Evac Unit. Steve Richmond MuckersTwo@aol.com 831-335-3542 |
