Laura Dolson's Home Page - Low Carb Diets, Gyn Cancer, HPV, and more | |
What is this site about? This page mainly contains links to Web sites and articles that I have written or am in the process of writing.
My New Job! (December 2005) I am About.com's Low Carb Diets Guide!! Check it out! (some of my popular pages)
My Sites:
I maintain a site for the Felton Library Friends.
Junior High Health Discussions - not a site per say, but a page linking to articles I've written for a series of health classes I taught at my daughter's Jr. High school.
SLV School District Perspectives - this is a site I started to write at the end of July 2003. It contains information about the San Lorenzo Valley Unified School District, and also functions as a place for people of the valley to respectfully discuss the issues that affect us. I stopped maintaining it in the Spring of 2005, as the District is now on a more-or-less even keel.
The Way of the Turtle - This is the remnants of an attempt at a diet and exercise site. The goal was to help people find the best diet for them, and support them in making small, but permanent steps towards their goals, but I've pretty much abandoned it at this point, but I still would like to do something along those lines. To get quickly get an idea about the site (it's sort of a mess right now), see the following:
"The Tortoise and the Hare Go Dieting" - an explanatory parable
"Why Do We Yo-Yo?" - reasons for weight cycling, including biological, false expectations, dietary, etc.
"Why is this Site Different from All Other Sites?" - There are a million diet and exercise sites. Here's why I hope this one will be different.
The next two contain information from a site about Gynecologic Cancer I developed while working for About.com in 2000 and 2001 (I still regret that I was not able to fulfill my vision of what the site could have been).:
Gynecologic Cancers Resource Center - Information about cervical, ovarian, uterine (endometrial), vaginal, and vulvar cancers. I originally wrote this site in 2000 and 2001 for About.com. I'm not maintaining it at this point, but leaving it up for people who may still benefit.
HPV/Dysplasia Resource Center - Information about HPV (the virus that causes cervical and other cancers) and dysplasia, a pre-cancerous condition often discovered via Pap test. I originally wrote this information in 2000 and 2001 for About.com. I'm not maintaining it at this point, but leaving it up for people who may still benefit.
