Puppet Storage

Several A&R members helped to organize the current storage for puppets, but this is not a long-term solution, and the owner is planning to move out of state. Let Grant (email:grantalicious@juno.com or 426-2292) know asap if you have any leads on storage for our puppets. We need a dry, acessible site. A space at least the size of a car and, ideally- a location that is fairly central, near downtown SC (though we'd gladly consider any leads or possibilities). We can pay some rent deferment or work in exchange. Homeless Puppets in mid winter is a terrible thought, and a tragic sight!

Thursday, Jan 29, NOTE: SIX! 6:00 pm (not 7), Gail Rich Awards
at the Kuumbwa Jazz Center (320 Cedar Street, Santa Cruz). See Sentinal story in Sunday (jan4) Style section! A&R has been named by Wallace Baine, SC Sentinel and the Cultural Council as a Gail Rich Award recipient! The Gail Rich Annual Awards honor 6 artists and/or arts groups for excellence and enriching the SC arts community. Article & photo in The Sentinel, this Sunday Jan 6. Awards Ceremony (free and open to the public) Thurs, Jan 29 6pm Kuumbwa Jazz Center. After closing remarks, the reception begins! You are invited to join us in a celebration of 6 full-ripe years of Art & Revolution activism! The event will include the premier of a slide show history of A&R actions in SC. Come out and celebrate local arts activists! A&R is one of 6 award recipients. Here's the order of groups and individuals:

Here's a little blurb addressed to Art & Rev from the Cultural Council:

        We are very much looking forward to your presence at the 8th Annual Gail Rich Awards. 
        If you have been in attendance at one of the previous Gail Rich Award events, you know 
        that it is a very warm and meaningful community celebration of the amazing artists of 
        Santa Cruz. It is always wonderful to meet and greet so many diverse representatives 
        of the arts in a single evening.  
A&R will be doing pre-event street theatre: Homeland Insecurity's Inspection for Weapons of Mass Distraction at the Kuumbwa, beginning at 5:40pm, when the doors open to the general public. At 6:00 pm the event begins. The event is Free and you're invited!

This is an invitation from Melissa (from Staff of Life, and a bright light in the creative street activist scene). Hey! we are doing a "Parade for Nothing" on Feb 1, Sunday...11:00 am meet at the surfer statue West Cliff...11:15 walk to the lighthouse field...parents and kids dressed up like fairies, princesses, wizards,...lots of glitter and fun...not just parents...big kids and little kids...and hopefully pretty kid focused...teaching kids how to gather and march...not that people need to consciously know that...and freedom to assemble...can you come?
