An exhibition to facilatate a broader understanding of the isssues and controversies surrounding the Endangered Species Act.

Part I: Andy Warhol - Endangered Species
November 18 - December 31.

10 original silkscreen prints by pop artist extraordinaire Andy warhol. In 1983 Warhol produced this series of portraits of animals facing extinction at that time. His use of bright colors and gestural lines lend dimension and power to the images. These human-like portraits are filled with emotions and intrigue, leaving us with the impression that the animals are aware of their fate.

Part II: The Community Responds
December 31, 1995 - January 21, 1996

It reflects students' efforts from throughout the community to artistically express their understanding of endangered species issues. In the "Aquarium Project", 2nd - 4th graders have made stuffed Batik fish which will swim in the Octagon Gallery space within a ring of lights. High school students have created group art projects which are their visual responses to the ideas and inspirations from the exhibit and the Andy Warhol prints.
