Burning Man Pics 2001

In October 2001 Liz and I went to Burning Man and had a blast. We were part of Lorax Camp, which was based on the Lorax book by Dr. Seuss. It was easily the coolest camp at Burning Man. No argument. If you argue with me I'll turn you into a thneed, darnit. Seriously, we had a lot of fun, from working on Lorax Camp to wandering the open playa. We have a few pictures here. Some of them are not of professional quality, but we're not professionals, so there you go. Enjoy!

Lorax Camp

Forest The truffula forest. This is the raw material that fuels the Onceler machine. The Barbaloots and Swam-ee Swans and all them critters frolic here.

Factory The Onceler's Factory. This is where the thneeds are made, folks. It arrived midweek, began producing thneeds like gangbusters and chopping down the forest, but in a twist to the story, the animals rebelled on Saturday, staging a protest that sadly ended in violence. Well, actually, it was pretty fun...

Protest Pictures of the anti-Thneed protest held by the animals, which culminated in the burning of the Onceler's factory.

In General

The Burn These are pictures from the burn of the Man hisself. We didn't have a good vantage point from which to take pictures, so they mostly aren't spectacular, but we had a great time.

Interesting Things Things that live where the sidewalk ends.

People Pictures of friends at Burning Man.
