John and Morton were running buddies. Morton's older brother, Peter, was a bully. He was usually mean and arrogant. He took delight in humiliating others. Terry, John, Mike and Nancy are in Terry's car. She is driving and John, sitting in the passenger seat, is bored. They are driving back to Sonora, following a line of cars, on Oakdale Road.
