In 2005, I traveled with my Dad and my Brother to England in search of information and places related to the Barrow family's roots on my Dad's side. His ancestors emigrated to the U.S. in the late 1800's from the Kent area of Southern England, specifically Ash-Next-Sandwich, Boxley, and Maidstone. We found some churches, graveyards, and even a B&B that used to be the residence for my Great-Great Grandfather's family. Along the way we met many friendly gracious people who were willing to share their time and knowledge of the area with us. I can't wait to go back. Scroll down to for more info, and to see photos from our trip. |

My Great-Great Grandfather Henry Barrow lived in Molland House in Ash-Next-Sandwich from around the 1870's to just a few years before his death. He managed the Molland experimental farm for Cambridge University during that time. |

This is the St. Mary's and All Saints Church located Boxley, Kent. It's near Newnham Court, where the Barrow Family had a farm during the early-mid 1800's. Around the corner to the left in this photo, under a tree, is this gravestone: |

About 50 feet behind and to the right of William and Sarah's grave is the grave of my Great-Great Grandmother, Louisa Ann (Clever) Barrow, (1828-1870). She was Henry's second wife. Henry's first wife, Elizabeth (Watts) Barrow is buried in this grave as well. Elizabeth and Henry's eldest son, William Henry Barrow (1854-1871) is also buried in this grave. |
