Yellow Submarine animation cel

Here's a detail of an animation cel of John from Yellow Submarine. It's from the All You Need Is Love scene. The background is a color copy of images from the movie (although it doesn't quite match with the actual background the cel was originally used with), it's not an original production background..

If you look closely, you can see that this drawing is from the deleted (now restored on DVD) "Hey Bulldog" scene.

Yellow Submarine Planter

In the early to mid 1970's , I walked into a bath boutique shop, and there on the shelves amongst the soaps, shampoos, towels, candles, etc. , were a few of these Yellow Submarine thingies. I think they were being sold as soap dishes, not planters, and they came in many different colors, including green, orange, and of course, yellow. I bought a yellow one for between $5-10. I never saw or heard of these again in all my years of collecting, until a few years ago, when the 3rd edition of the Beatles Memorabilia Price Guide was published. There, on page 83, is a picture and listing for this item, with an estimated value of $300 in near mint condition! One of these recently sold on eBay for over $1000! That's incredible, considering it may not even be an official, licensed Yellow Submarine item.

(this item is on permanent loan from Bryan's Beatles Archives to Lance in Arizona- well, actually, I sold it to him.)

Movie Promotional Pin

Back in the early 1970's in Junior High, my buddy Ron used taunt me with this button, (shown here slightly larger than actual size), which he said one of his siblings obtained while working at a local theater which was showing the movie Yellow Submarine. He finally gave it to me a few years later, and it's still in my collection after all these years. I've never seen another one like it. I don't know if it was strictly a local promo item, or an official promo item for the movie. Anyone have more info? Any guesses as to its worth?

Wheat/Rice Honeys Cereal Premiums - Rub-Ons

If you've been wondering what the background to this page is, look no further; the background was created from two sheets of Yellow Submarine Rub-Ons. These came as prizes in boxes of Wheat Honeys and Rice Honeys cereals, and there were eight sheets in all. You placed the rub-on sheet over something (door, table, cereal bowl, etc.) and rubbed. When you removed the sheet, the image had transferred to the item (which is why the words are backwards in the image above).
