I got engine rebuilt at "Carr Parts" machine shop...
They took twice as long as agree upon...
Sum thing went wrong during the rebuild at the machine shop...
They said it couldn't have, "it just needs to brake-in" (for me to weight
for ~?(3)K miles, even though it was consuming 1qrt of oil per ~200
mile driven)...
I spend a lot of time and money, trying to find whatever it was (because,
the need for engine to brake-in, it wasn't!)...
I can't find it, I give it to two different mechanics (they spend more
of my money), and they don't find it...
I return back to the machine shop, they agree, to dismantle it (at 3K),
at there location...
They find that the oil control ring on the piston #2, was miss installed
by them...
This caused a gouge in the cylinder wall, requiring sleeving of that (#2)
cylinder...
They say that they rebuild the intire engine, replace the pistons, bore
to "30" over ...
Return the truck with things broken, and an extra bolt...
Truck basically ok, there is a slight miss, fouls #2 spark plug, the
first 100 miles, better after (TBD - Seems probably ok, 1k miles)...
They clam that all my extra cost are "incidental damages" and are not
included in the warrantee...
I send a detailed letter requesting (Demand Letter) them to pay my expenses,
of; parts, mechanics, extra oil/filters, my time and car rentals...
To date, no response to my request (12/02/00)...
I plan to look into my legal options...
At ~3k, engine runs fine (minor problems, may be TPS, AFM, or California
Gas? 03/25/01)...
Blown front main seal, 12/15/01. Caused by not using a sleeve on the
front mains seal, a normally done thing, during a rebuild,
1/02, I replace the distributor with new one, better, still misses. Seems
better, timing is not jumping around any more,
