Bush and Cheney - the unharmonic convergence Yesterday, the entry focused more on the psychological deficiencies of George Bush and also why he and Dick Cheney are joined at the hip when it comes to sneering at and devaluing of others, be they individuals, institutions, rules and regulations or just common perceptions. Today, we venture into another aspect of Bush's mindset. Yes, he absolutely relishes seeing Dick Cheney flip the bird to any and all who step into his path, at times probably wishing to himself 'I wish I had said/done that.' Conversely, some of Cheney's activities surely frighten him too because insecure lies the crown atop King George's head. His apprehensiveness is all-pervasive, fear inside and outside. Yes, the placement of him before only friendly, hand-picked audiences is meant to eliminate Bush becoming verbally distracted -- for challenge brings forth the real George Bush -- not the pre-packaged imitation, and that will never do. Note in the first Bush-Kerry debate how startled people were upon witnessing Bush's crankiness, his smirks and the grimaces when called upon to explain his stances and beliefs. For how else other than fear to comprehend the startling pronouncement "I'm the Decider"? Isn't that a given considering the position? To utter such words -- to actually have to say them out loud -- truly bares all. Granted. the verbiage is meant to reassure the American public that he is in charge -- which makes one think of the adage that 'if you have to say it in public then there's a reason or reasons why' -- but it's also meant for digestion of those running rings around him. This analysis will be challenged but Bush's 'I'm in charge' is for consumption in the outside world AND within his cozy kingdom. That's because George Bush, to this day, is still not fully aware of all of Dick Cheney's behind-Bush's back machinations. In some cases, Bush has been 'set up' with various legal offerings and other grand strategies the Cheney-ites have designed and implemented. The startling series in The Washington Post this week has spotlighted just such -- Cheney not only-outmaneuvered each of his competitors with the Bush Administration, he spun Bush. But just what could Bush do about it -- even if he wished to take action? Nothing. As typed yesterday, the subterfuge and lies of Bush and Cheney and their various courtesans has coalesced this cotillion into a forced 'we live and die as one' formation. The pack possesses too much dirt and Bush knows it. He's stuck between the proverbial rock and hard place. All that Bush can hope for as his legacy is that the rats go to their graves with their secrets and that Dick Cheney, King Rat, doesn't overreach and obstruct further than he already has. This will allow the remaining acolytes some room to work their spin for the historical refurbishment of Bush, and spin they will. There would be no glimmer of hope for a future Bush resurrection if any of the loyalists decided to forsake their sworn omerta. It's unfathomable what Dick Cheney has wrought. Call it a un-harmonic political convergence -- a vacuous nominal leader whose catered-to neediness facilitated the hijacking of our government by a grand schemer. It's presidential puppetry. top |
