Empty suit... just empty period

A couple of items we came across recently needed conjoining so here goes:

From Manuel Roig-Franzia in The Washington Post on September 19, 2007:

"President Bush and Vicente Fox once portrayed themselves as diplomatic allies and close friends, but the former Mexican president takes some jabs at Bush in a new autobiography, calling him "the cockiest guy I have ever met in my life" and a "windshield cowboy" afraid to ride a powerful horse..."

and

"...Fox seemed less impressed by Bush's cowboy bona fides.
Bush, whom Fox calls "my friend the windshield cowboy," demurred when Fox offered him a ride on "a big palomino" during a visit to Mexico after both men had been elected president. Fox remembers Bush "backing away" from the horse.

Commander Codpiece seems to do a lot better with his shows of courage and valor when everything is stage managed. But bring the rancher, oops, I mean brushcutter, to a real life setting and it's 'sorry, not today but let's go walk tall and important for the cameras.'

"...People who knew both men tended to favor the father. "Bush senior finds it impossible to strut, and Bush junior finds it impossible not to," said Bob Strauss, the former chairman of the Democratic National Committee who served as ambassador to Moscow under Bush 41 and remained a loyal friend. "That's the big difference between the two of them..."

One could gather all the sharpest minds and greatest thinkers in one room and still stump them all by asking one simple question: name anyone close to the lifetime under achievements and human wreckage perpetuated by George W. Bush? In other words, if there was ever someone who should be crawling on his knees and begging forgiveness for his irrational idiocy and personal failures rather than doing a cock o' the walk...

Brains, heart and courage. The real stuff of commendable human beings.

In contrast, George Bush could play all the supporting roles -- Scarecrow, Tin Woodman and Cowardly Lion -- in "The Wizard Of Oz." We'll leave it to you to recall the missing items of those three characters although such has already appeared in this entry.
