Comcast plays judge, jury and executioner

We're going to feature a local (Santa Cruz County, CA) event today, one that deserves greater attention.

When the powers-that-be are matched up with a solitary individual, get ready for heads to roll or, in this specific case, a head.

The juggernauts here are Comcast, the good 'ol purveyors of those charming Slowskys, who caved in (no, not the Slowskys, Comcast) due to apparent pressure from Central Coast Section Commissioner Nancy Lazenby Blaser, the administrator of a prep athletics organization who gosh, just is above being offered any constructive criticism.

This is a case of a higher-up appearing to suffer from a case of on-line burn out and lashing out at someone who was simply trying to rectify what he saw as a wrong. There was no malice on his part but he got steamrollered anyway.

Here's Tom Moore in the March 2, 2007 edition of The Santa Cruz Sentinel:
"Earlier this week, Joel Domhoff tried to pitch a suggestion to the Central Coast Section. He thought maybe there was a way to change the playoff format so that higher-seeded teams could avoid playing road games against lower seeded teams.

No big deal. Except his pitch was blasted back at him and he wound up Charlie Browned.

By the end of the week, he was fired and his head was spinning..."

Later in the article, Moore gets to Domhoff's judgment error which was signing his email with his name, followed by Comcast Sports, Santa Cruz:
"...It's never a good idea to get in an e-mail argument. Nobody has ever won one. It's probably not a good idea to say you represent a company that partners with the organization you're criticizing.

And Domhoff also cc'd the Santa Cruz Sentinel, the San Jose Mercury News and the Monterey County Herald. At the end of his e-mail, he asked members of the media to advocate his proposal..."

Domhoff and Blaser eventually seemed to respectfully come to a better understanding of each other's points of disagreement but Blaser still felt the need to contact Comcast about the matter.

Why?

Especially why when she better understood Domhoff's position and reasoning after engaging him and not just dissing him as an idiot, which is her apparent m.o. It sure seems like a case of outright spite..Queen had it right with its song oh so appropriately singularly titled "Another One Bites The Dust."

I hope Nancy Lazenby Blaser and Comcast are proud of themselves, especially the latter which simply caved. Surrendered and then unwilling to talk, to discuss the matter. That says something, especially about a communications organization.
