Everything You Need To Know About George Bush

The heart and soul of Bill Clinton can best be summed up by this rambling about his 'situation' with Monica Lewinsky:
"It depends on what the meaning of the word 'is' is. If the--if he--if 'is' means is and never has been, that is not--that is one thing. If it means there is none, that was a completely true statement....Now, if someone had asked me on that day, are you having any kind of sexual relations with Ms. Lewinsky, that is, asked me a question in the present tense, I would have said no. And it would have been completely true."
To capture George W. Bush, it takes one quote and an anecdote.

From the August 30, 2004, Mike Allen and David S. Broder-written article in the Washington Post, quoting a passage in Bob Woodward's "Bush At War" book:
"I do not need to explain why I (Bush) say things. That's the interesting thing about being the president. Maybe somebody needs to explain to me why they say something, but I don't feel I owe anybody an explanation."
The following anecdote comes from veteran author and journalist Mickey Herskowitz, who was to author a ghost-written autobiography of George W. Bush. This is Herskowitz, quoted by Russ Baker, in a June 20, 2005, article posted at TomPaine.com:
"He was thinking about invading Iraq in 1999," said author and journalist Mickey Herskowitz. "It was on his mind. He said to me: 'One of the keys to being seen as a great leader is to be seen as a commander-in-chief.' And he said, 'My father had all this political capital built up when he drove the Iraqis out of Kuwait and he wasted it.' He said, 'If I have a chance to invade…if I had that much capital, I'm not going to waste it. I'm going to get everything passed that I want to get passed and I'm going to have a successful presidency."
Herskowitz met with Bush about three dozen times, completed 10 chapters but was replaced when it was determined he wasn't casting Bush in a positive enough light.

Hubris is defined as wanton arrogance.

Does 'creating' the capital necessary to invade Iraq via a campaign of publicly-stated misinformation qualify?

How about activating numerous terrorist alerts to scare the American public into misbelief? (Curious how we haven't had any high-level terrorist alerts since the November election?)

George W. Bush's life is replete with one thing, sober or not: his inveterate contempt at owing anybody anything. It is ALWAYS about him and what is due.

What won't he stoop to in order to have a 'successful' presidency and be a 'great' leader?

Certainly not over 100,000 lives.
