George Galloway Rips Norm Coleman A New One Regardless
of where you stand on the propriety of the Oil-For-Food investigation and his guilt or
innocence, it had to be invigorating for everyone to see George
Galloway rip Norm Coleman a new one during Galloway's testimony
yesterday. I write this in reaction to the
usual mealymouth, pussyfooting doubletalk individuals have offered of
late when appearing before Congress (see John Bolton, Alberto
Gonzales). Regardless of their past grand actions or fire-breathing
orations, the trend has been for these people to be button-downed
'mini-me's' of themselves once setting foot on Capitol Hill. Not Galloway. He wasn't about to go meek and mild and anyone knowing his history should not have expected such. Any bets that Norm Coleman is gingerly sitting on a rubber donut tonight? Maybe my memory is failing me
at the moment but the last 'best' moment I recall was Brendan
Sullivan's (representing Oliver North) outburst during Iran Contra-Gate
hearings: I'm probably overlooking some but I'd have to go back to Sam Ervin's memorable folk-isms during the Watergate hearings as the best entertainment prior to Sullivan. top |
