Hannity, Limbaugh and Coulter Give Good Schtick
So why conduct a pity party for these wealthy and well-known political personalities? Not that they want or desire a way out but ask them for commentary on any subject and the response is utterly predictable--a Chinese restaurant menu answer with selections from columns a, b and c--the press is (a) vile, add a side dish of (b) possessed of a far left bent and round out the entree with (c) unable and unwilling to be even-handed. Or mix and match, no extra charge. At times, there seems to be no difference between commentary from these individuals and that of a 'Saturday Night Live' skit. Well, SNL is usually funnier. Or was. Yes, all three (and others) have highly profitable schticks. But that's what it is--a schtick. A good gig, using a word associated with artistry. Facts and admission of errors reside in an alternate universe but that isn't the point--like the current Bush Administration, these these personalities have created their own reality and it's too damn financially lucrative to stop. But trapped by their own repetitive,
rigid excesses, they might as well mail in their verbal and written
squawkings--they are that predictable. Yes, these paragons of truth and defenders of virtue continue with their bombastic fiats yet consider this:
Like entertainers known for a single
predilection, unable or unwilling to change even the shading of their
stripes, the credibility, not the entertainment value mind you, of
individuals such as this is nil. But these are intelligent people who
will one day wake up and realize how much of their precious life they
have wasted performing in non-reality-based kneejerk roles, as part of
the entertainment elite they disparage. Gravitas isn't based on the size of a paycheck or the number of viewers, listeners or readers. No, it is earned by the quality of the individual and contribution to society. So no, these are not crocodile tears for the Straightjacket Three.top |
