It's Baaaack

Bingo! It happened, not unexpectedly, yet again.

Just in time.

Fear, scare, frighten, panic, terrify--this is what the Bush Administration does best--to the American people.

And, does so at the most politically opportune moments.

Opportune meaning 'trot out our faithful ol' sidekick terrorism when we're up to our necks in (sh)it" such as the the furor over firing government attorneys.

And for those of you wish to excoriate me for minimizing the threat of terrorism--I vociferously acknowledge that there are a number of organizations that wish harm to the United States and its citizens. My objection is the continuous mis-use of this reality by the Bush Administration for who can forget the impeccably timed terror threats during the last presidential campaign. Even former Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge here and here couldn't figure out why a number of them were implemented.

Rosa Brooks delves into this and more with her column today in the Los Angeles Times:
What impeccable timing, KSM!

Khalid Shaikh Mohammed may have diverted attention from Alberto Gonzales, but the 9/11 plotter's testimony exposes the flaws in Bush's 'war on terror.'

WHAT TIMING! Just when the attorney general and the president were coming under fire for the politicized dismissals of eight U.S. attorneys, the Pentagon released a transcript of a March 10 hearing in which Guantanamo detainee Khalid Shaikh Mohammed confessed to masterminding the 9/11 attacks. Now we can get back to the Bush administration's preferred topic: What a heck of a job it's doing in the war on terror.

Go here for the rest.
