Javier Bardem - the vast left-wing Hollywood conspiracy goes foreign

Credit actor/painter Javier Bardem with this lively quote in the February 5, 2005, issue of GQ. Asked about the right-to-die subject matter of his latest film, "The Sea Inside," he responded with:

"It created a huge debate in Spain...But the only strong reaction against it came from the Cahtolic Church. I respect people's faith: I just don't respect the manipulation of that faith. The Church didn't give any strong statements about the war, but somehow they are able to come up with clear, strong statements about homosexuality, euthanasia, abortion--they are unnatural and must be condemned. But something like a war? When thousands of innocent people are being killed? They don't have a strong statement about that. So don't talk to me about morality."

I wish he would quit pussyfooting around and comes out and say what he really thinks.

If he was an American film star, the right-wing mullahs here would be issuing Javier Bardem fatwas, pushing their 'sheep' to picket Bardem films (of course, that would involve crossing state lines and traveling great distances to reach various locations in Blue States), enlisting Faux News to doctor up footage of Bardem being separated at birth from Fidel Castro, and, in the solitary confinement of their houses of purity and late in the night when no one was looking, sticking pins in voodoo doll likenesses of Bardem. Hollywood would be lambasted yet again for attempting to brainwash the masses (a rather large assumption--that being that the masses have useable brains). Pat Buchanan might even be able to vault from perennial guest to host pundit and finally get his very own MSNBC show from which to launch Cultural Crusade II. Even Hollywood likes sequels.
