Karl Rove --- Limbo Artist Extraordinaire

I am biased. I admit it. We all are.

However, the following is 'truth' for anyone who believes personal integrity and morality are the mainstays for a civilized world.

Karl Rove has contributed a lifetime of appealing to the worst in humankind, of sowing prejudice and rancor towards others, of feeding a politics of fear, of reaching for the lowest common denominator, all for personal and professional gain.

He has taken the sacred teachings of his professed saviour, Jesus, and shamed them.

All in order to win.

From his days skirting the boundaries of appropriateness as a Young Republican to the present, Rove has engaged in acts outside standards of decency.

Yes, others, including Democrats, have also been guilty of such. I am not too biased to admit this.

But name one other political operative who, as a teen schemer, began utilizing deceitful tactics and indefensible personal attacks from day one and continues such thuggery to this day? Offer the name of a consultant who has smeared
opponents with pedophilia and lesbianism charges, questioned the valor and patriotism of others, planted a listening device to head off an adversary's momentum. Rove is a political limbo artist, his motto: "go as low as necessary for victory."

Such is his real legacy. One of instilling devisiveness by smearing individuals and groups as bogeymen.

But win in the world of politics and the world rushes to your doorstep. How victory is accomplished is of no consequence. Losers and losses are consigned to the dustbin of history.

Obscene political machinations engineered by scurrilous political operatives are given a free pass. This moral relativism is the accepted nature of the beast.

Curiously, sports nowadays doesn't work that way. The use of corked bats and steroids have denigrated former heroes in baseball. Former track and field super athletes failing drug tests cannot sprint fast enough to separate themselves from the dark cloud overhead. Doping cyclists are not lauded.

Victory at any and all cost is not a pillar of acceptable citizenship. Such a mindset and ensuing actions injure and separate, in no way, advancing society.

Democrat, Republican, Green or Libertarian, I would not allow myself to support any candidate who employs the bag 'o tricks Rove has pulled in his lifetime of professional impropriety.

Because doing so would taint me.

And, in the end, it's not political affiliation but self respect that is all we have.
