This is a mandatory post Every blogger should have a link to Keith Olbermann's 'Special Comment' from his show Monday evening. Whether one agrees or disagrees with him, Olbermann was THE news on Monday and Tuesday. He rationally laid out the crimes against this country that George Bush has committed and had others commit. As has been asked by many, where are the anchors from NBC, CBS and ABC? What does it take for them to prepare and deliver their own special comments? What does Brian Williams wish to be remembered for? Being a nice-looking but thoroughly interchangeable newsreader? That's quite the epitaph. The same goes for Katie Couric. Charles Gibson ain't a beauty but he surely wishes to be known for diligent reporting and not telepromter reading. It actually is embarrassing that the network news has shriveled so far that it's become robotic, taking a stand for nothing. As Tim Rutten put it so well the other day in his Los Angeles Times column: "...Regular readers of Regarding Media may recall that the late Edward R. Murrow delivered about the best possible judgment on this confusion's impact, when he decried a faux notion of journalistic fairness that is willing to concede "the word of Judas equal weight with that of Jesus." It's the kind of he-said-she-said news coverage that would have reported the Sermon on the Mount this way: "On a mountainside in Galilee today, a popular young rabbi argued that 'the meek shall inherit the earth.' Other religious authorities, however, pointed out that if God did not want the rich to fleece the poor, he would not have allowed them to behave like sheep..." I'm late getting to it but here it is: The presidency is now a criminal conspiracyFinally concluding with: And ultimately these men, these patriots, will defeat you and they will return this country to its righteous standards, and to its rightful owners, the people. For both the print and audio versions, go here. top |
