Saxby Chambliss -- dumb and dumber

I understand it's not just the southern states but it certainly appears they offer up the most. Most being senators and representatives who appear as if they were born minus even a single brain cell.

Really.

It's like these buffoons comes straight out of the central casting for "Cultural Learnings of the southern United States for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of America."

No, actually that is an insult to any and all associated with "Borat."

Sure, Alaska's Ted Stevens ranks right up there with his explanation of the internet, one that confirms he did just fall off the turnip truck:
"...I just the other day got, an internet was sent by my staff at 10 o'clock in the morning on Friday and I just got it yesterday. Why?...They want to deliver vast amounts of information over the internet. And again, the internet is not something you just dump something on. It's not a truck. It's a series of tubes...

And if you don't understand those tubes can be filled and if they are filled, when you put your message in, it gets in line and its going to be delayed by anyone that puts into that tube enormous amounts of material, enormous amounts of material."

And this guy is involved in passing laws in our country?

Anyway, let's not hold our breath for Saxby Chambliss to lock and load and line up with the Georgia National Guard troops in Iraq. Oh yes, way back when he first had that pesky student deferment so he could attend law school and then that knee of his, the one that kept him from making America safer from the Viet Cong, apparently is still an ouwie.

Saxby Chambliss--making the southern United States and all America appear dumber, one statement at a time. What a puke.
Chambliss: Iraq Progress 'Amazing'
The Associated Press
5/8/2007

WASHINGTON (AP) -- As the Pentagon notified some 35,000 soldiers to prepare for a fall deployment to Iraq, Sen. Saxby Chambliss of Georgia said Tuesday he found "truly amazing" progress during a trip to the country this weekend.

Despite a particularly deadly month for U.S. soldiers in April, the first-term Republican from Moultrie said he is optimistic that the ongoing military offensive can quell violence and stabilize the government.

"Every time I go over there the improvements in the conditions are truly amazing," Chambliss said in a noon conference call with reporters after his fifth visit to the country. "It's very encouraging to me to see the progress."

Go here if you think you can stand it.

Here is an older article detailing Chambliss' soiled history:
Dirty-Bomb Politics

The Washington Post
June 20, 2002

If the mugging of Sen. Max Cleland of Georgia is a fair indicator of what is to come, the fall elections will be ugly. Cleland, a decorated veteran and triple amputee, was attacked by his Republican opponent, Rep. Saxby Chambliss, "for breaking his oath to protect and defend the Constitution."

Shades of Lee Atwater, the fabled Republican cutthroat politico who helped pilot the first President Bush to victory. But even Atwater might have hesitated before going after a man who lost both legs and an arm in the service of his country. Chambliss did not participate in Vietnam. He had a bad knee, he told columnist Mark Shields, who was the first to call national attention to Cleland's bizarre situation -- veterans whose war wounds confine them to wheelchairs are often given a pass on patriotism, especially by those who never wore the uniform.

Go here for the remainder.

If such documentation wasn't enough, here more from an August 16, 2006 Media Matters column:
...(Wall Street Journal doofus Brendan) Miniter claimed that Cleland lost his Senate seat in 2002 because he was "too soft on the war on terror." No mention was made of the attack ads put out by Cleland's opponent, Sen. Saxby Chambliss (R-GA), linking the Vietnam veteran to Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein. As The New Republic's "Notebook" reported (subscription required) on December 2, 2002, "attacks on Cleland's patriotism formed the subtext of virtually the entire Chambliss campaign, as noted by innumerable press accounts leading up to and following the election." Chambliss attacked Cleland, claiming Cleland opposed the creation of a Department of Homeland Security, even though Cleland was a co-sponsor of legislation introduced on May 2, 2002, calling for the creation of a cabinet-level DHS...

...A July 3, 2003, Washington Post article described a controversial Chambliss ad that attacked Cleland:

It opened with pictures of Osama bin Laden and Saddam Hussein. "As America faces terrorists and extremist dictators," said a narrator, "Max Cleland runs television ads claiming he has the courage to lead.
He says he supports President Bush at every opportunity, but that's not the truth. Since July, Max Cleland voted against President Bush's vital homeland security efforts 11 times!"
Go here for the complete slime.
