John Kerry, We Hardly Knew Ye
I come not to bash thee John Kerry.
But I do come to bash thy campaign.
- How
could you not expect and be prepared for John O'Neill and the Vermin
Vets to re-surface with their obscenities about your character?
- How could you not expect and be prepared your voting record, particularly on the Iraq War, to be twisted against you?
- How
could you not expect and be prepared for too much of the public to find
you wanting when you failed to display any visceral passion and
demonstrate your core beliefs?
- How could you not expect and be prepared for your opponent to define you, once you failed to do so yourself?
- How could you not expect and be prepared that your silence in August would create an insurmountable obstacle?
This
was a Karl Rove-run opponent you faced and Rove, if need be, could and
would indict Jesus himself with a litany of failings and character
defects. Decency in the pursuit of victory has never and will never be
a Rovian consideration. For remember the Alabama judge, reknown for his
work with youth, who was blasphemied in a Rove-induced whisper campaign
as a pedophile? And that was the high water mark for Rove.
John,
you simply were the wrong candidate, in the wrong place, at the wrong
time. Sometimes we cannot choose our moment in time and I do not hold
that against you.
You are a decent and honorable man, one I'm
sure I would be proud to call a friend. Your integrity remains intact.
But now is the time to invigorate yourself with the fire you displayed
in your early twenties and become the force that was never visible in
2004. This country needs that.
