Pinnacles National Monument


Pinnacles National Monument is a craggy mountainous area located in the Gabilan Range east of the Salinas Valley in Central California. Pinnacles is what remains of an ancient volcano torn in half by the San Andreas Fault. The other half of the volcano lies 195 miles to the southeast (NPS, 1999).  Pinnacles is home to a great variety of wildlife such as dear, reptiles, turkey vultures, and the recently reintroduced California Condor. This exciting landscape has much to offer, including hiking, rock climbing, wildlife viewing, and nearly unlimited photo ops.
