Article Summaries

The purpose of this assignment is for you to learn about various Ceramic Artists and other ceramic topics by reading magazine articles or articles on the web. The articles you read should cover a ceramics technique, a topic about a specific artist, historical information about ceramics or other areas of ceramics that you find interesting. You may also choose to read an article in the various ceramics books in the Library and write a summary of the article.
Your Summaries must follow the following guidelines

• You may use articles from Ceramics Monthly, Pottery Making Illustrated, Clay Times, Ceramics Art and Perception, the web, or books from the library or my office.
• Your summaries must be typed and you must use 12pt font.
• You must double space your work and have one-inch margins.
• Your summary needs to be at least one page long.
• You must include a photocopy of the article.
• The Articles you read should be at least two pages long and be an article not a “vignette”.
• Do not use I, we, our, or your in this writing assignment.
  Your summaries will be due on specific dates during the quarter,(check the due dates page ) although you may turn them in early
• You should have one or two paragraphs that tell me about the article using concrete detail to back your points.
• You should have at least one paragraph that tells me what you learned from reading the article or how you feel about what you have read or your observations about the ceramic artist's work. This is your commentary about the article.
• If you are not sure if the article meets my requirements ask me before you write your summary
• You will need to use correct MLA standards to cite your article at the end of your summary
