Application


* Step 1

You begin your education by making an appointment for placement testing at the Assessment Office (479-6165). Placement includes: writing an essay for English or ESL (English as a second language) placement, completing a test to measure your reading level, and by choosing and taking one of two math tests, for your math placement.

  • ESL Assessment: if your language is not English, or if you have not had written English schooling, you may take the English as a second language (ESL) assessment.
  • Special arrangements: Students with special needs can receive accommodations through the DSPS (Disabled Student Program & Services, 479-6379).

* Step 2

Come to the FTTW office in room 802 to begin the application process and to schedule appointments. (479-6344).

Sign in at the front desk and pick up an application form. When you return the application, the office specialist will assist you with scheduling an appointment and additional paperwork to verify your status, if you are a CalWORKs recipient.

When you come to your appointment, a FTTW staff person will determine your eligbility for a vocational program. It's important for you to also arrange appointments with an academic counselor to create an educational plan, and a finacial aid advisor to fill out financial aid forms for funding your education. FTTW also has HRA elegibility workers on site, information on childcare, transportation vouchers, student employment, peer advising, and other services.

* Step 3

The Fast Track To Work office is here for you. Make use of the support groups, knowledgable staff, information about college and community resources, and special events.
