Sample Letter to the IRS

Dear Internal Revenue Service of the United States Government:

       I strongly object to the U.S. war on Iraq.  The expenditure of federal tax dollars for the Iraq war drains resources from education and other basic needs.  War will destroy fragile possibilities for peaceful resolution of Middle East conflicts.  I am withdrawing my consent for this war by withholding $______ of the federal taxes I owe, and I am sending this amount to support my local public schools.

       I understand this act is willful violation of laws that demand I pay for war.  I will circulate this statement to the IRS, to the office of my Congressional representative and United States senators, to my local public school system, and to friends.
