This morning Rocky is finally here. You can see it in his eyes. Last night I walked to the corral and he leaned over and blew hot air in my face and we nuzzled. He and Gunner or Bullwinkle as I call him now whiney when they are apart, and hang out and wander all over the pasture.
Today in the round pen he shows his full stride and he has a beautiful smooth way of moving with his long tail flashing behind him. I can see that he still moves out of preservation and less out of trust and so we will have to work with easing him, and finding connection.
It is amazing to see it when a horse does connect. It is important to build a relationship so that he (or she) is moving with you, and is willing, over and over, to return to the place where the scary thing out there is okay, letting him know with your body, your energy, and guidance that you will find a solid place together with this challenge. I look forward to feeling more of that confidence from Rocky.
