Shasta Solitude

I am not a mountain
Nor even a hill
I am but me
Whoever that may be.

But who is the me that I am
A chameleon with but a facade for the universe
Layer upon layer of multi-faceted untruths
A foundation built upon what once was innocence.

Once innocent soul now guilt ridden
Pained by its own untrust
A soul with an eternal sob
Tears shed in self-pity
Pacifying life's unlimited choices
With a mocking sneer
A soul celebrating its own demise,

I am not a mountain Nor do I want to be
Free me from the mockery
And allow me
To be.
