HEALING THE GREATEST HURT…Mass for Parents of Deceased Children on Wednesday, February 16 at 5:30 PM at St. Joseph’s Church in Capitola. This is a time of healing for parents, grandparents, and siblings who have lost children of any age. People of any faith, or no faith are welcome. Please bring a photo of your loved one to place in front of the altar.

For any purchases you make at Safeway or any of the other merchants who have signed up as eSCRIP merchants your card will keep track of purchases and at the end of each month Resurrection will receive a percentage of the amount you have spent. CONCERT ON SUNDAY FEBRUARY 6 AT 3 PM
We are pleased to welcome Eric Brelsford, a fifteen year-old virtuoso pianist from the Fresno area who has played at Carnegie Hall twice already in his young career. Eric will be playing Resurrection’s fully restored 1914 Steinway at the Forum Room at Cabrillo College on Sunday, February 6 at 3 PM. Youth and Children tickets are free! Adult tickets are $7 and Seniors, $5.

FIRST ANNUAL "SOUP LINE" SUPPER TO BENEFIT HOMELESS SERVICES CENTER …On Thursday, March 16, the Homeless Services Center will be holding its First Annual "Soup Line" Supper at Holy Cross Church beginning at 6:00 PM. Tickets are $15 per person/ $30 per family. You can purchase tickets by sending a check to the Homeless Services Center, 115 Coral Street, Santa Cruz, CA 95060 or telephone your reservations to 458-6020. We plan to have at least twenty of the leading restaurants and bakeries in the Santa Cruz area prepare soups and more to help us to raise funds necessary to provide homeless people in Santa Cruz with basic necessities: shelter, food, and opportunities to get themselves out of homelessness.
FAITH DEVELOPMENT
LA CONGRESS 2000: "Awaken Hope Shout Jubilee"
This is the nation’s largest annual gathering of Catholics. Over the three days of the Congress (April 7-9), 179 speakers will present over 250 workshops in a wide variety of topics. Youth Day is held the day before on April 6. The LA Congress costs $50 (postmarked before February 20. Youth Day $15). Registration Guidebook’s are available in the parish office. The parish has also reserved a block of rooms at a hotel near the convention center at a special rate. If you are interested please call the parish office.
RENEWING THE MISSION OF LOVE
Noted Catholic author and scholar Gil Bailie will give our annual parish mission on February 14-16, 7:30 PM each evening and at 9:15 AM on the following mornings (February 15-17), after our 8:30 AM mass. Dr. Bailie is noted for sharing his inspired vision of the meaning of Christ in human history and culture. Childcare provided with advance reservation. Call the parish office at 688-4300.
YOUTH NEWS
SKI TRIP!
The Knights of Columbus are once again sponsoring a ski trip for our parish youth, grades 7-12 on the weekend of February 25-27. The cost is only $160 (or 16 pizzas sold) and includes deluxe charter bus, 2 nights at the Lake Tahoe Inn, 2 day lift tickets at Squaw and Heavenly, two full buffet breakfasts, and free ski or snowboard lessons. To reserve a spot, call the parish office by Tuesday, February 8.

YOUTH 2000 – FEBRUARY 11-13 AT ST. JOSEPH’S
This is a special youth/young adult retreat (ages 13-30) given by the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal which is centered on Christ’s presence in the Eucharist. Registration forms have been sent to all parish youth along with the February calendar. Forms are also available at the exit tables and parish office.

WORLD MARRIAGE DAY
World Marriage Day is always the second Sunday of February. To celebrate Worldwide Marriage Encounter has several events coming up: The weekend is February 11-13, to find out more call: Dan & Linda Muhoberac (438-6038). There is a free dinner and information on February 12, to reserve your spot call: Paul & Ruth Murphy (438-8035). A dance is planned at San Agustin at 8:00 PM on the 12th and another dinner, dance and auction will be held on the 26th at Madonna del Sasso, Salinas. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS ANNUAL ST. PATRICK'S DINNER…Mark your calendars for the Knights of Columbus annual St. Patrick's Dinner/Party to be held on Saturday, March 18 at Good Shepherd School. This is a family event. Watch for ticket sales in the near future.
WOMEN'S GUILD BAKE SALE
In the absence of our annual Round the Town Luncheon fundraiser this Spring, the Women's Guild will be holding bake sales, monthly, after the 5:00 PM, 8:15 AM & 10:15 AM Masses. The first opportunity to support this endeavor will be February 12 & 13, just in time for Valentine's Day. Enjoy and thank you!
GOOD SHEPHERD CATHOLIC SCHOOL…is currently accepting applications for the fall of 2000 (Preschool through Grade 8). Because space is limited, early application is advised. REQUEST FOR VOLUNTEERS…AMATEUR RADIO OPERATORS …
The Diocese has established an Emergency Response Team which has the responsibility of coordinating the Pastoral Office’s response to emergency situations such as earthquakes, fires and floods. Volunteers are needed to staff the emergency communication network for this team. Currently licensed amateur radio operators who are interested in volunteering for this important service to the Diocese are requested to contact Jack McGilvray, Chairperson of the Emergency Response Team at 831-455-1516.
