NEW CHURCH PRAYER

Many people are now working hard for the building of a new church. Members of the Environment & Art Committee and the Fundraising Committee, among others, are meeting constantly.

In addition to the planning and figuring; however, parishioners need to pray for the successful construction of the new church. The house of God must be built with our faith, which Peter calls "living stones" (1 Peter 2:5).

On the weekend of August 1 and 2 an invitation will be extended to all to offer a word or short phrase as an important element of a common community prayer.

SUMMER PROJECTS

• The three candleholders behind the ambo need stabilizing by putting cement or plaster in the base buckets. Can you do this?
• Old flyers/songsheets/programs need to be taken out of all of our Gather songbooks. Can you do this?

LITURGICAL MINISTERS SCHEDULES

Liturgical Ministers (acolytes, lectors, greeters, eucharistic ministers, plate holders) please be sure to pick up your August & September schedules this weekend on the ministry table. Thank you!

PRAY THE ROSARY AS A GROUP

Are you interested in praying the rosary with a group of people? Some members of our parish family are interested in doing this after the daily morning mass. If you are interested please call the office or speak to those who attend daily mass.

Our food pantry is very low. We are in need of food to assist those who come to us on a daily basis. Suggested items: crackers, small jars peanut butter, small boxes (individual) cereal, canned fruits & vegetables, tuna, macaroni & cheese, soups canned & individual portions, instant oatmeal, boxed juices. We need some kind of display rack for our growing collection of audio cassettes. Any ideas?

AUDIO/VIDEO LIBRARY NEWS

We have many audio and video tapes available for both adults and children. A complete list is available in the parish office. To borrow an item, stop by the parish office during the week or see Patrick Conway after mass on Sunday.

THAT THE WORLD MAY KNOW: BIBLE STUDY

The last session of this Bible Study series will be held from 7:00 - 8:00 PM on Monday, July 27: "Total Commitment" - Caesarea - Contrasts Herod, who built a kingdom for his own glory, and David, who lived for God. All are welcome!

BACK TO SCHOOL BARBECUE

All parishioners are invited to attend this BBQ with good food and friendship on Sunday, August 23 after the 10:15 AM Mass. Don't forget the first Early Bird Drawing will also be held at this time. Stay tuned for further details...

PASTORAL COUNCIL ELECTION RESULTS

The votes have been counted and our new members of the Council are Will O'Sullivan and Bruce Manildi. Congratulations to our new members. Many thanks to Larry Young and Pete Piazza for their willingness to run for these positions.

EARLY BIRD CASH DRAWINGS...

Raffle tickets for the $10,000 Raffle will be available after all the Masses beginning this weekend & in the parish office. The drawing will be held during the Arts & Crafts Fair, October 16-17. Be sure to purchase your chance to win before the two Early Bird Drawings on Sunday, August 23 & Sunday, September 20. If you win one of these your name will be thrown back in for the grand prize of $10,000!! Tickets are $100 per ticket or $25 for a split ticket. DIVORCED & SINGLE CATHOLICS MINISTRY

RESPECT LIFE EVENTS:

• Music in the Mission, a concert to benefit Project Rachel...To be held at Carmel Mission, July 26 at 3:30 PM. Lynne Rubino Bottazzo, acclaimed in Europe as "The Golden Voice," will be sharing her gift of music accompanied by locally known pianist, Robert Domingos. Donation of $15. Mr. Alan Sears of the Alliance Defense Fund will address this concern on Sunday, July 26 at 7:00 PM at San Carlos Parish Hall in Monterey. The Alliance Defense Fund is a non-profit organization working to defend family values and religious freedom.
