The Funks first appeared on April 14, 1971 as "The Antiquarian Funk Consort," offering a Concert of Renaissance Music at the Cabrillo College (in Aptos, CA). Selections performed included a Suite from the Tafflel Consort (1621), a piece by Locheimer Liederbuch (ca. 1460), and selections from the collection of Tielman Susato (1551).
