Shenandoah (2011) Traditional American folk song. 3 by 3 inches. 8 panel accordion book. The text is from the chorus of the well known traditional American folk song. The paper was handmade by Peter and Donna Thomas and is letterpress printed on both sides. On the front is an illustration with antique printers cuts of covered wagons printed over a hand colored pulp painting of river landscape with the poem’s title printed in green ink, using Playbill type. On the back is the text printed in multi-layer, muilt-colored wood and metal type. A small flaps at the beginning of the book hides the colophon printed in green ink. The book is panel bound with cloth covered boards that have a paper label, mimicking the text, with the title printed on the front cover. 22 copies. $75
