The diary entries written by John Evelyn and Celia Fiennes, recording their visits of paper mills during the late 1600’s, are preceded by short biographies and accompanied by commentary on the author’s observations. 6 3/4 by 5 inches. 42 pages. 200 copies. $250.
The Ergonomics of Hand Papermaking or How to Make Paper Without Getting a Sore Back.(2000) by Peter Thomas. This 20 minute video DVD gives suggestions for how to set up a studio and make paper in ways that will help avoid back problems and repetive motion injuries. Suggested warm-up exercises are described. Using footage filmed in traditional western paper mills, the traditional techniques used to form and couch paper are thoroughly explained. The video comes with a 12 page booklet that transcribes and expands on the text of the video. $15.
