GRAPHICS
The home page of this issue of PNG Poetry Online sports a drawing attributed to Leonardo da Vinci—when it is, in fact, a drawing by one of his students. It is the only remaining fragment of a fresco by the Master that went bad and is lost to history.
Dante Gabriel Rossetti did Persephone in 1874. It graces our Index of Poets page. Rossetti was not only a painter—and founder of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood—but also a poet of some notoriety.
On the Poet Bios page is a red chalk and charcoal drawing by the great Mexican artist Diego Rivera (1886-l957). It was drawn in 1926, is titled Back of a seated Nude, and resides in the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art.
TECHNICAL STUFF
PNG POETRY ONLINE is designed with Netscape 2.0 and high resolution graphics in mind. If you wish to see PNG the way it was designed to be viewed, please set your monitor to 1024 X 768 video mode. All pages herein were created with the help of Photoshop, Kai Power Tools, and CMed version 1.08b (a text-based HTML editor). These pages live on a server at http://members.cruzio.com.
SUBMISSIONS
PNG POETRY ONLINE is interested in short to moderate length poetry that does not beat around the bush—in other words: no imagism, word games for the sake of word games, surrealistic nonsense, or rhyming poems about trees and flowers and how blissful it is to be in love. The more closely a poem follows actual life experiences—be it a car accident or hangnail—the more likely it is to be read and possibly accepted for publication here. PNG POETRY ONLINE does not consciously take any ideological or spiritual stance per se—our only requirement is that your stuff come from the gut and the heart. HOW TO SUBMIT: email—since this is a Web- based publication, the assumption is that you will submit via email. LIMITATIONS: none, except the above mentioned and the following—do not send any more than five poems per submission. I don't want to see book-length manuscripts. The email address is: knimmo@ic.net—or you can click here to bring up your browser's mail program. ETCETERA: Please include a short bio on yourself. Photographs are also welcome—provided the scan is of good quality and arrives in screen resolution (72 pixels per inch). The easiest way for me to handle photos is through encoded—i.e. UU, XX, MIME, or Binhex—email attachments.
