A Time to Remember -- The Tuomala Family Saga Revisited |

In 1931 Henry Tuomala and his two daughters, Mildred and Ester ages 14 and 16 respectively moved to Petrozavodsk, Russia as part of the Karelian Fever Movement. Thus began a family saga which has haunted two generations of the Tuomala family.
This web page is devoted to the Tuomala family saga and their return to America.
In 2001 Mildred's son Joe Hall retraced his family's Karelian Fever journey and visited post Soviet Russia. The trip was an adventure in family history and a journey to bury a family ghost.
Many thanks to all the persons in America, Finland and Russia who helped make this journey possible. Pictures of individuals in Russia will not be shown to protect their privacy. Nonetheless this journey was the result of their assistance and encouragement.
