Front view
A tribute to IZ (Israel Kamakawiwo'ole)
and his "Over the Rainbow."

Back view with hibiscus carved into the bowl
and a monkey face above the tuners.
I carved the hibiscus area to actually be a
resonating back like any other acoustic instrument.

Side and bottom view
Green sea turtle head carved into base of the neck.
The hardest work was doing the double radius fit
of the neck to the bowl.

Treble side view

Top and treble side view
The bearclaw spruce top was leftovers from the bouzouki.

Detail of monkey face with garnet eyes and ivory teeth.

Story of my life—a fish out of water, abalone inlays.
Now I don't have to write a book.

The monkey IS better looking.

Couldn't find a case to fit so I had to manufacture one.
The case is mostly scrap packing styrofoam with model
aircraft plywood structural supports.

Velcro-type closures.
