The Thief

Thieves' Guild

Hold it. I've got a dagger centered on your back and if I see that cursor move one pixel closer to your browser's back button, my hand just might slip. Now listen to what I have to say or suffer a slight spinal adjustment. Yeah, I know. You're probably not surfing the web's Quest for Glory pages for info on the most misunderstood of all the characters -- the thief. You may think "Hey, thieves and heroes just don't mix." You couldn't be farther from wrong. The thief is just a logical, big picture type of person. His philosophy is - Who cares if a couple people lose a few meaningless possessions if it helps me to save the whole world from destruction? And I'm impressed with his decision to stick with this philosophy even though it happens to be illegal. The thief would also avoid a problem rather than solve it as long as he ends up at the same place. The thief's strange moral values also make him the most interesting character to play because you are able to both dine with the region's nobility and hang out with some of the less law-abiding members of society. The thief goes anywhere and does anything he wants. Hey, nobody's perfect.

Go to the Katta's Tail Inn to look at some of the places a thief can hide from the long arm of the law. Or if you need help solving one of the thief's puzzles in a QFG game, go to the astrologer.

Dagger
Throwing and Close Combat Daggers
As much as the thief wishes to avoid any type of fighting, he must be prepared for those times when there's no other choice. And if he can use throwing daggers to kill the monster before it even gets to him, then all the better.
Leather Armor
Leather Armor
Though chain chain armor is too bulky for the normal thief and too expensive to bother with considering he if mostly a non combat character, leather armor is good to have in case you are forced in to combat. Because a defenseless thief is a dead thief and a dead thief is a unhappy thief.
Tools
Thieving Tools
With out these, the most skilled thief is nothing. Gaining him entrance to almost everywhere, the lock pick is a thief's most important tool. However, a wider variety of tools is needed for more complicated locks. A thief's tool kit can be bought at most guilds.
Loot
Loot
The spoils of a job well done, these expensive possessions are useless to a hero except for money. Unfortunately, they would be recognized as stolen goods by most locals so they must be sold at a thieves' guild.
