Home on the Russian River
 |
The Russian River valley runs through Sonoma and Napa,
the heart of California wine country. We will be staying
in a vacation rental on the river and plan to relax, take
afternoon dips in the river, and explore and hike the local
countryside. In the evenings we are a short drive to some
of the best food in the country.

Napa is home to some of the world's best
resteraunts such as the fabulous
French Laundry, Pinot Blanc, and Terra. We are hoping
to try several of the local favorites during our visit.

Balloon ride over Napa
|
The best way to see the valley, from a hot air balloon.
We have never been in a balloon before but are very
excited for the ride. Every summer day balloons launch for a
leisurly trip and they often incude lunch or a champagne toast!

Napa and Sonoma are also famous for their wines. We are planning
on touring some of the local wineries, visiting the tasting
rooms, and bringing several bottles home with us. Hopefully
our vinyard journies will be a little less dramatic than the
movie Sideways.

Not to be outdone by all the famous local chef's we plan to do
some cooking at home. With great local farmer's markets almost
every day of the week, we should be in for a treat.

Hot Springs Spa
|
The region is also home to several geothermal hot springs, and,
as a result, quite a few world class spa's. We plan to spend an
afternoon 'taking the waters' and maybe even a mud bath.

|
One of our favorite things to do is go to the movies. Scarlett
Johansson will have a new movie out, "The Black Dahlia".
