Three years ago I (Jason) joined my two friends Patrik and Greg to hike one of the big Pacific coast peaks in Big Sur, Mt. Manuel. As the guide book describes it, you get fabulous views of the Pacific coast and its almost worth the pain. When my friends and I reached the top the fog had started to gather in the deep valleys below, so it felt like we were above the clouds. As we sat for lunch, relaxing in the sun, Yasmin walked up out of the clouds. She was enjoing the hike on her own, but it turned out that she and Greg were taking the same class (Beysian Statistics, Yowy!).

We all decided to walk back together because it was getting late, On the way down we all got to know each other. I think that we talked science, math and politics (I know, more than a little geeky). As we neared the bottom, I suggested we all go to dinner together. The night went on and six months later Yasmin and I were hiking together ... This time in Hawaii.
