PICKERING LABORATORIES PULSE-FREE PUMP A BREAKTHROUGH IN POST-COLUMN ACCURACY AND CONSISTENCY

NEW WORKSHOP SERIES ANNOUNCED FOR HANDS-ON TRAINING IN PINNACLE PCX METHODOLOGIES

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. November 9, 2004 Pickering Laboratories, the worldwide leader in the design, manufacture and supply of post-column derivitazation instruments and consumables, has significantly advanced the science of analyte detection with a vastly more sensitive method for identifying hard-to-detect chemical compounds. At the heart of Pickerings industry-advancing development is the pulse-free syringe pump, designed for the new Pinnacle PCX post-column derivitazation system, which is now shipping.

Pinnacle PCX Workshops Roll Out January 2005

Pickering chemists will offer comprehensive, hands-on workshops in utilizing the advanced detection capabilities of the Pinnacle PCX in pharmaceutical, agricultural and clinical applications, beginning in January 2005. See details below. Check www.pickeringlabs.com/workshops for an up-to-date list of workshops, or contact Pickering Laboratories about having a workshop presented near you.

Unsurpassed Sensitivity with Pulse-Free Pump

Pickerings pulse-free syringe pump is an important advancement in HPLC analysis that contributes to vastly cleaner readings than previous-generation post-column instruments, giving laboratories a number of advantages in selectively separating and detecting target compounds.

First and foremost, Pickerings pulse-free pump creates no distortion in the baseline, making it possible to quantify and analyze extremely low concentrations of compounds such as mycotoxins in food, amino acids in serum and pesticides in crops.

The pump runs only during the injection cycle, as opposed to reciprocating pumps in other systems that run continuously. This feature extends the pump and piston seal lifecycle significantly, and reduces the use of costly reagents. In addition to saving money, longer lifecycles reduce downtime for maintenance, allowing laboratories to increase throughput and meet tight deadlines.

Pump features include a single-piece ceramic cylinder, a completely non-metallic flow path, automatic piston wash, automatic reagent flush cycle and a refill cycle of 60 seconds.

Pinnacle PCX = Higher Efficiency + Greater Productivity

The Pinnacle PCX itself offers unprecedented stability, enabling HPLC analysis of difficult-to-trace residues very specifically and reproducibly.

The Pinnacle PCX is ideal for high throughput operations. The system can be easily configured to separate and analyze specific compounds for a broad range of applications, such as obtaining amino acid compositions from peptide hydrolysates, feeds and pharmaceutical preparations.

The rugged design takes into account the considerable demands placed on equipment in todays laboratories, which often run 24 hours a day to decrease downtime and improve efficiency.

The Pinnacle PCX works with all brands of HPLC systems, and features PC software control that is network enabled. The system is completely configurable to separate complex mixtures and detect a wide range of compounds with utmost sensitivity and stability. The PCX accepts both 6 and 8 mm columns and guards.
