Welcome to
the home page of
Gary and Fely, Nicky, and Melissa Osborn.
Hello, welcome. My name is
Gary. I
would like to tell you a little about my family and share some pictures
with you. You may click on the pictures to see them larger.
I have a son in college, and his name is Nicholas. He
enjoys playing tennis and is on the high school tennis team. I
also have a daughter, who is in high school. Her name is
Melissa. Oops,
sorry, that would be her kindergarten picture. Here she is more
recently.
She likes to dance, and takes lessons. She
also has many friends, with whom she spends a lot of her
time. We
live in a dome shaped house in north Monterey County. That is
Nicholas' trampoline in the foreground, and the dumpster was only there
while we were cleaning up. And here is a view from our front
porch.
Here is a picture of a rose which my mom gave to me, and I have managed
to keep it alive for almost a year now.
That is a record for me with a plant. It is named after my
favorite place in the world to vacation. And
here is a picture of me
at my brother's pool. There are several cats that
live with me, and sometimes they let me share the bed with
them. I
used to work at a K-8 school in Watsonville, where Nicky and Melissa
used to go
to school. My
job was maintaining the computer lab, teaching technology to the
students, as well as teaching a video class. It was a great job, and working
with kids keeps one young in many ways, and
I highly recommend it to anyone. Unfortunately that job ended,
and I am now searching for new work. Well, I've saved the best
for last. On my birthday in 2004 I met the greatest love of my
life.
Her name is Fely, she lives in the Philippines, and I met her on
cupid.com, with the help of her wonderful sister. Merlie , who
lives in Montana. In January I have plans to visit her and her
family, and propose to her. Shhh, don't
tell, it's a secret.
Much will be happening to me
during the next year. Come back
every month, and hopefully I will update the pictures and the
story. Thank you for reading about me.
Gary
Update
11/11/04: Communication
with a 3rd world country is difficult. Fely and I send text
messages to each other daily, using our cell phones. This limits
us to 160 characters at a time, and about 25 cents per message.
We tried using an email to cell phone service, which gave us 280
characters and cost only 5 cents for messages from her phone to my
computer, and free the other way. But we soon found it
unreliable, so we are back to the cell phone to cell phone
messages. We've also tried a few times to talk to each other on
the phone, but cell phone signals at her home are too weak, and due to
differences in time zones, we have so far been unable to arrange a time
when we can talk while she is near a cell tower. We also write
letters to each other weekly, and these letters take 2 weeks to reach
the other.
Update 2/26/05: On January
27th, as planned, I took a trip to the
Philippines to meet my true love.
And I am pleased to say that she is everything I expected, and
more. And so, I went ahead with the proposal. I
actually fell in love with her entire family, and
there are many of them. It
was very difficult leaving them when I had to return to the US.
Update 6/19/05: Now I am
waiting for my divorce with my first wife to be final. As soon as
that happens, I can file the I-129F petition,
starting the process to get Fely's K-1 visa and bring her to the U.S.
to live with me. The process is complicated, but with the help of
my friends on the Visa Journey website I have
learned all that I need to know. But the waiting is painful
Update 9/20/05: Big news!
I am currently planning a trip this fall to see Fely. As I was
text chatting with her a couple of nights ago, she surprised me with
something. She said "love i think if you come here w get
married." Yes! That sounded like a great idea to me.
Well, I've spent months preparing the fiancée visa application,
but that doesn't matter. No, I'm still not divorced. But as
soon as I am, I'll be flying to the Philippines and getting
married. Then when I return we can file the I-130 petition.
And we wait some more.
Update 3/21/06: Still waiting
for the divorce. My wife filed to bifurcate the divorce at the
end of February, so the final papers should come soon. I have
booked a flight to the Philippines for April 5th. I'm hoping to
get the papers before that time. Fely and I really want to get
married on this trip. I plan to be there until June 3rd.
This will be a wonderful trip, even if we are not yet able to marry.
Update 6/5/06: The trip was
wonderful but we were unable to get married, because I'm still waiting
for those papers from the court. But we had a good time, visiting
100 Islands, Baguio City, and many relatives in her area, as well as
attended a niece's college graduation and another's wedding. Upon
return from the trip I found my divorce decree in the mail. Now I
will try to find the money so that I can go back and Fely and I can
finally get married.
Update 10/8/06: I returned to
the Philippines on August 27th. And we got married on September
11th. We honeymooned for 4 days in Hong Kong. What a great trip.
We will finally be filing the Visa Petition very soon.
Update 1/16/07: Just another
update on our visa petition. I mailed the paperwork on October 12th, on
December 28th the USCIS approved the petition, and on January 15th the
NVC received the petition and mailed the DS3032 and AOS fee bill.
Things are really moving along now.
Update 10/10/08: Lots has happened in the past year, and I need to redo this entire web page. But for now just a quick update. I went to the Philippines in June and July of 2007, and came back to the U.S. with Fely. She has been here a little over a year now, and in August we had a baby named Briana.
