Felton
Branch Library official website
At 1,250 square feet, Felton is physically the smallest of the
branches, except the Bookmobile. Despite its size, the library
boasts a collection of more than 22,000 books, videos, books on
tape, and other items.
History
of the Felton library
The structure that is now the Felton Branch Library was built
as the Presbyterian Church in Felton in 1893. It was constructed
in a traditional, New England style, and cost $1500. This church
served the Presbyterians for 63 years until 1956, when a new and
larger church was built nearby.
Felton
history
Felton had its start in 1843 when Isaac Graham transferred his
limber mill from the Zayante land grant to the San Lorenzo River
at Fall Creek. From this point until the 1890s the
town became more and more of an industrial center, adding lime
kilns, a powder works, a paper mill, and more lumbering.
