School Board Meeting Synopsis November 17, 2004 Link To SLVUSD Web site Agendas and Minutes Page (Note: These are PDF files - read this if you have trouble opening them). Minutes are posted after they are approved, usually at the next regular meeting. Note from Laura About These Synopses (Basically, I report on what I think will be most interesting to community residents. Consult the minutes for a more complete listing of what happened in the meeting.) Closed Session The board had no report out of closed session, which was listed on the agenda as follows: Superintendent Performance Evaluation (Government Code 54957) Community Input There was no general community input at this meeting. JPA Medical Insurance Update There has been a big issue with the health care insurance for school employees in Santa Cruz County. (For more information see this Sentinel article) There is a $2 million deficit which will have to be passed along to the Districts and employees. They employees are understandably unhappy, however our SEIU representative complimented Edith Henden (who represents our District on this issue) for continuing to express the minority opinion from the point of view of the employees. Partially from her efforts, the costs are being spread out over a longer period so the financial cost to employees isn't as burdensome. Action Items Approval of Intention to Lease Surplus Classrooms at Quail Hollow There was little further discussion beyond the last meeting. Approved unanimously. Forgot to write down when the meeting was adjourned, but it didn't take long.
