Sad Times

I have an uncle named Tom. He is my mom's oldest brother. He died in November and he was 44 years old. We are sad. This is my Mom's favorite picture of Tom -- it is from a long time ago when he graduated from High School. In the paper it said "He enjoyed working on cars and motorcycles. he worked as a pipe-fitter for most of his adulthood. He lived his life his way." I think that's really true.

Mom says that Uncle Tom has gone to be with his mother, Barbara, who died when she was only 37 -- way before I was born. This is the last picture of my Grandmother Barbara when my Mom was 16 years old. Aunt Shari took her picture. Mom thinks that last year was Barbara's happiest. She loved her six kids and did lots of things she wanted to do before she said goodbye.

Before Uncle Tom died my Grandpa D. got Tom's Sisters and Brother Jeff together to be with him before he died. I got to see my cousin Aubree for the first time. She is Tom's daughter. She is very special to us and we hope we can spend a lot more time together. From Left to right this is Aunt Shari, my sister Angelina, cousin Aubree, my Mom, Aunt Tracy and Aunt Lori.

My Mom, Shari, Jeff and Tom lost their Mother when they were young so they know how hard it is to say good-bye to your Mom or Dad. We are a closer family now but it is sad to say good-bye. Uncle Jeff stayed up with my cousins Tim and Leo to help out and Grandpa and Grandma D. and Aunt Tracy came a lot. The Hospice people did a lot for Tom too and so did his friends who own the place with the rocks.

Uncle Jeff stayed up with Tim and Leo to help out and Grandpa and Grandma D. and Tracy came a lot. Uncle Jeff brought a pomegranate and a white and orange stone from Little Grandma's house in San Diego. Tom lived in a special place near a big big rock in a trailer hooked to his favorite Studebaker truck. He could see the sun set right outside his door. He loved that truck.

I have another special person who died in Spring. She was a Great Grandwoman. Her name was Mutz but I called her 'big mutz' cause she sat in a big chair with wheels. She was my friend Shelly's mother. Mom, Dad and I used to do special things with Mutz. We miss her and look up in the sky and say "hi Mutz."

One of my Daddy's friends also died in November. Her name was Cindy and she made lots of great masks. She made great art with Dad. They made dinosaur masks together for the Cincinnati Natural History Museum -- especially for kids. Cindy loved kids and atomic fireballs and dark chocolate milky way bars. When Mom had her 40th birthday in Cincinnati, we made a hand pentagon with Cindy. That is my hand, Mom's, Barbara, Michael and Cindy's hands. We will all miss her.
