The Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk is the oldest and last surviving oceanside amusement park
in California. It opened in 1907 and is still providing tourists and locals alike with a
fun beach experience daily!

In the Casino you will find all sorts of fun entertainment with the video arcade, an indoor
miniature golf course and the laser tag arena. Moving down the boardwalk you will come to
the rides featuring two named National Historic Landmarks, the popular Giant Dipper wooden
roller coaster, built in 1924 and a classic 1911 Looff carousel. I love to ride the carousel
with the old pipe organ playing and grab the brass ring as I go around!
The beach is easily accessible from the park and families can set up for the day on the
beach and go back and forth to enjoy the rides and games. During the summer The Boardwalk
offers "Bands on the Beach" every Friday evening. The bands play from the beach
bandstand and everyone can enjoy a free concert. They feature great old groups like Eddie
Money, Papa Doo Run Run, The Drifters, and many more. It's a wonderful way to start the
weekend.

But my favorite time to be at The Boardwalk is at night when it's all lit up and you can
see the lights reflected on the water just like my applet!
