Located at the edge of Henry Cowell State Park in Felton, California is a wonderful place
called
Roaring Camp. Visiting Roaring Camp is like a trip back to an 1800's California
logging town. The Roaring Camp & Big Trees Narrow Gauge RR, authentic late 1800s steam
engines, climb a narrow-gauge railroad grade through the beautiful redwood forest of Henry
Cowell State Park over trestles, through towering redwood groves and up a winding
narrow-gauge grade to the summit of Bear Mountain. Or you can travel by steam train on the
Santa Cruz, Big Trees & Pacific Railway up a standard-gauge track through the Redwoods on
the beach train that goes along the San Lorenzo River to the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk.

Roaring Camp hosts several special events such as a Civil War Reenactment, the annual
Gathering of Mountain Men, and the Musical Saw Festival. Over Labor Day weekend they
stage the Great Train Robberies, so be sure to stash your valuables in a safe place. In
October you can ride the Ghost Train, when they portray the Legend of Sleepy Hollow and
in November/December you can ride the Holiday Lights Train into Santa Cruz.
