This is a one-of-a-kind book was calligraphed, illustrated and bound by Donna Thomas. The text, about knitters, is attributed to a 17th century observer of knitters in the Shetland Isles and is written on Peter's handmade paper. The text is illustrated with "paper doll cut" stockings with decorations made with watercolor painting and stitched knitting wool. The book is bound in a piano-hinged binding using knitting needles for the hinges. The leather used for both the binding and clamshell box is deer leather that was tanned by Donna. The front cover of the book and the clamshell box have leather onlays in the shape of a knitted stocking that mimic the shape of the illustrated text pages.
